School fees
SACRED’s main priority is supporting children’s education. We recognize that education is a means to the escape from poverty. Providing children with an education, improves significantly their employment opportunities and increased earning power will enable them to improve their standard of living and that of their families.
A majority of children have to pay for - school fees, transportation, school uniforms and books, and the cost of sending children to school is often an unbearable burden to families. Often parents have died – due the high rate of HIV and extended families take over the responsibility - there may be only one bread winner and the choice can be feed the family or send the children to school. There is a high drop out rate and many children resort to crime and drugs. These vulnerable children are then easy prey to abuse..
SACRED are at present sponsoring the education of 134 children at various levels and hope that this will provide them with the tools to drive away poverty, unemployment and lack of health awareness and lead them, and generations to come, to a brighter future.
